Psychodynamic Counselling

Many painful situations in the present may have originated from experiences in the past, many people are not aware of the connection. Psychodynamic counselling helps individuals to uncover these links and develop a clearer understanding of what caused these problems in the first place. This results in increased freedom and enables people to make beneficial changes or accept things with increased resources and insight. People tend to repeat patterns of behavior, often whilst being aware but unable to change. The relationship between counsellor and client is central to the work, as these repeating patterns may be enacted in the counselling room. This gives an opportunity to look at behavior patterns without fear of retaliation or rejection. This gives new opportunities for integration, growth and insight.
